Our Founders

ThinkSono was founded in 2016 by Fouad Al Noor and Sven Mischkewitz. The two met at the prestigious Entrepreneur First (EF) program in London where they found a common interest in improving access to medical diagnostics worldwide.

Fouad Al Noor

Chief Executive Officer

Fouad has a masters in Electronic Engineering with Nanotechnology from the University of Southampton, where he wrote his thesis on paper-based medical diagnostics using image processing. He worked as a medical software engineer at SAP in California, and as a research assistant at Imperial College London before joining Entrepreneur First.

Sven Mischkewitz

Chief Technology Officer
Co-Founder

Sven is an award-winning software engineer from Hasso-Plattner-Institute, Germany. Before joining Entrepreneur First, he worked on annotation tools for brain cells on projects for the Max-Planck-Institute for Brain Research. He focused on the field of Human-Computer-Interaction during his studies.

We are working towards a world where ultrasound diagnosis can be provided safely at the point of care by any healthcare professional leading to lower diagnostic cost, reduced wait times and better patient care.

Michael Blaivas, MD, MBA, FACEP, FAIUM

Chief Medical Officer

Prof.Blaivas has more than 22 years of experience in combining innovation, technology, medical research and clinical fundamentals to create new products, improve existing processes and generate growth. An engineering and computer science background, out-of-the-box thinking, as well as broad and deep experience in medical device and software development have allowed him to successfully partner with companies from 2 person startups to multi-billion dollar conglomerates.

Dr. Bernhard Kainz

Scientific Lead & Machine Learning Consultant

Dr. Bernhard has a BSc, MSc, and PhD in Computer Science and is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computing at Imperial College London. He is working on translational high-performance medical image analysis, machine learning, visualisation, and interactive real-time image processing techniques.

Dr. Mattias Heinrich

Scientific Lead & Machine Learning Consultant

Dr. Mattias is an Associate Professor at the University of Lubeck in Germany. He won a prize for the best UK PhD thesis in Computer Vision and the MIDL best paper award.

Soren Tietböhl

Software Engineer

Sören is a Software Engineer with a Masters Degree from Hasso-Plattner-Institute, Germany. He is an all-rounder in both in-depth theoretical concepts and practical software solutions. His thesis was focused on improving evolutionary algorithms by using SAT-solving techniques.

Beverley Scott

Chief Safety Officer

Beverley Scott supports ThinkSono with regulatory compliance and safety. She has broad and expert knowledge of the regulatory and standards landscape for medical devices, software as a medical device, health technology and medical apps. Beverly is a a Registered, practising nurse with 23 years’ clinical experience in working with people with eating disorders, 18 years working in patient safety and information governance and 5 years in dermatology, skincare and aesthetics.

Jonas Oppenheimer

Lead Medical Analyst

Jonas is a doctor at the Charité Berlin. At ThinkSono he is supervising and reviewing the data labeling process working with 10+ people annotating medical data.

Dr. Ramin Mandegaran, MBBS BSc FRCR FRCPC

Radiologist & Clinical Advisor

Dr. Mandegaran is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist in Alberta, Canada, previously of Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospital in central London. He has presented at numerous international conferences, published multiple papers and has a particular interest in ultrasound, with many years’ practical experience with DVT diagnosis.

Dr. Efthymios Avgerinos

Professor of Surgery University of Pittsburgh

Dr. Avgerinos is Professor of Surgery and has been a faculty of the University of Pittsburgh since 2011. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 peer reviewed publications and chapters on vascular surgery and his work has been widely cited and recognized with international awards. Particularly for venous disease he has been focusing on acute DVT interventions.

Dr. Nicola Curry

Consultant Haematologist – Oxford University Hospital

Dr. Curry is the Head of Department for the Oxford Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre, which specialises in the care of inherited and acquired bleeding and thrombotic disorders. Her research focuses on the better understanding of the pathophysiology of trauma coagulopathy and in particular the influence of the endothelium on the evolution of the coagulopathy and the associated bleeding.

Dr. Raham Karimaghaei, MBBS BSc FRCR

Diagnostic & Interventional Radiologist, Clinical Advisor

Dr Karimaghaei trained in Medicine at St George’s Hospital in London, and then gained extensive experience in Emergency Medicine before undertaking specialist Radiological and Interventional training in leading London Hospitals including St George’s, Great Ormond street, and the Royal Marsden.

Gregg Sando, MBA, MSc

Board Member

Gregg has a B.A. Biochemistry from Harvard University, an M.B.A. University of Chicago and an MSc Immunology, Imperial College London. After a career in investment banking based both in London and New York, he completed his Immunology MSc degree at the medical school of Imperial College. Recognising the significant progress taking place in the field of cellular immunotherapy, Gregg formed Cell Medica in cooperation with a small group of the leading clinicians and immunologists who were pioneering this new mode of medical treatment.
